FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Fourth Annual Scour and Devour Clean-up to Be Held Approximately 300 students, staff and faculty of California State University, Chico are expected to participate in the fourth annual Scour and Devour, Saturday, Sept. 29, a day dedicated to cleaning up the campus and community.Volunteers in Scour and Devour will participate in cleaning, painting, planting and graffiti removal in several areas of Chico and the CSU, Chico campus. The event will begin at 9:30 a.m., with registration beginning at 9 a.m., on the Kendall Hall Lawn. At noon the event will conclude and volunteers will be served a free tri-tip barbecue lunch. Volunteers will be arranged into teams and then sent out to specific areas including the north and south campus neighborhoods, downtown Chico, the CSU, Chico campus and Nord Avenue near Safeway. The event provides students, faculty and members of the Chico community an opportunity to improve their community while expanding relationships and working toward a common goal. Numerous campus and community organizations are participating in the event, including CSU, Chico; A.S. Recycling; Campus Crusade; CSU, Chico Residence Halls; North Campus Neighborhood Association; South Campus Neighborhood Association; Asian Christian Fellowship; "The Edge" Campus Christian Fellowship; "The Door" Bidwell Presbyterian Church; Waste Management; and City of Chico. Scour and Devour is made possible through donations and grants from The City of Chico;Hignell and Hignell; Congressman Wally Herger; J.C. Nelson; Sheraton Real Estate Management; Triple J; Albertsons; Safeway on Nord Ave.; Safeway on East Ave.; 5th St Steak House; University Housing and Food Service; Associated Students Recycling; "The Edge" Campus Christian Fellowship; Associated Students Revenue Allocation Committee; Waste Management; North Campus Neighborhood Association; South Campus Neighborhood Association; RHA; Campus Crusade for Christ; Chi Alpha; "The Door" Bidwell Presbyterian Church; Delta Chi Fraternity; Asian Christian Fellowship; FOCUS; and the Ultimate Frisbee Team. Other businesses and organizations may also help sponsor the event.
