FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Northstate Public Radio, KCHO and KFPR to Air Beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 8:00 p.m., the stations of the Northstate Public Radio network, KFPR in Redding and KCHO in Chico, will broadcast NPRÕs award-winning 13-part series on the life and culture of Islam. Each series will consist of two 30-minute episodes, back-to-back on Wednesdays. ABC News anchor Peter Jennings introduces each of the segments. The series will be repeated in a couple weeks at a different time slot, so listeners will have an opportunity to hear any segments they may have missed during the first airing. The stations also plan on several call-in programs to address the present situation. "The World of Islam" was produced during the Persian Gulf crisis but did not air locally at the time. It still accomplishes its mission of introducing and educating people about one of the worldÕs fastest growing religions. "The World of Islam" was designed to explore the political, social and religious underpinnings in the world of Islam. Some 200 Muslims from all walks of life discuss topics that stretch from Islamic art and the place of women in Islamic societies, to the centuries-old conflicts between Christians and Muslims and the Black Muslim movement in this country. Please join Northstate Public Radio (KCHO can be found at 91.7 FM, KFPR at 88.9 FM) for this series of programs on the culture and religion of Islam beginning Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at 8:00 p.m. ###
