Our Sustainable Campus

  • Yahoo News listed Chico State as one of the top five “green” colleges in America in September 2011.
  • The University has received national honors for its sustainability practices by the National Wildlife Federation, the New York Times, and the Sierra Club, among others.
  • Associated Students Recycling, founded 16 years ago, is the oldest program of its kind in the CSU and first among state campuses for reducing waste.
  • Chico State made The Princeton Review's 2011 “Guide to Green Colleges.”
  • Chico State's annual “This Way to Sustainability” is the nation's largest conference of its kind.
  • The Associated Students Sustainability Collaborative won the CSU Best Practices Award for Student Sustainability program in 2011.
  • Chico's Green Campus Program (2008) won a CSU Best Practices Award for Student Energy Efficiency.
  • Environmental website Grist ranked the campus the No. 8 top green university in 2007.
