Ag Day, March 10
The farm is coming to campus! The Chico State Students for Responsible Agriculture (SRA) will educate and entertain elementary school students by bringing hands-on agriculture to the Free Speech Area. The 13th annual Ag Day is scheduled for Thursday, March 10 from 9 a.m.-noon.
Last year, more than 900 students attended this annual event, which features booths from Chico State Ag clubs and organizations, as well as displays and samples from ag businesses such as Bell-Carter Olives, Butte County Cattlewomen and Pacific Coast Producers.
Children get the opportunity to milk a cow, learn to rope, visit a petting zoo and watch stock dog demonstrations. “Ag Day is a way for kids to learn about agriculture in a fun, hands-on setting,” said Desiree Gonzalez, external relations coordinator for the College of Agriculture. “This event is a positive experience for local schoolchildren and college students alike.”
This is a student-organized event intended to promote agricultural awareness within Chico and the campus community. This event is free and open to the public. For more information on Ag Day, please contact Shannon Allard at shannonallard@hotmail.com or (530) 680-4545.

Turner Print Museum's “New Voice" -Curator Nancy Scott Patton
Catherine Sullivan, director of the Janet Turner Print Museum, handed over her curating duties to Nancy Scott Patton, a Butte College printmaking instructor, for the Museum’s current exhibition.
“New Voice: Guest Curator Nancy Scott Patton” runs through March 6 in the Janet Turner Print Museum Gallery, located upstairs in Laxson Auditorium. Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Works selected by Patton from the 3000-plus prints that make up the Turner print collection, include collagraphs, monotypes, monoprints, woodcut relief prints, and screen prints.
Patton moved to Chico in 2002 from St. Louis, after her husband, Tom Patton, became the chair of CSU, Chico’s Department of Art and Art History. She currently teaches printmaking at Butte College.
Patton’s choices for the exhibition were influenced by her affinity for large-scale prints — especially those that have energetic marks that draw viewers into their imagery. Patton also included a few mixed-media prints to illustrate that “there is no limit to how one can layer information from different printmaking techniques.”

Humanities Center Gallery March Event
The Humanities Center Gallery is exhibiting Ebaybies: Genuine & Lasting Friends, “intaglio prints of a conceptual nature” by art professor Nanette Wylde, and Small Colored Squares, digitally created images from Wylde’s students in the Electronic Arts Program, March 1-24 in Trinity Hall.
Wylde writes (tongue-in-cheek) about her show:
“Ebaybies are selected from abandoned, up-for-auction darlings. Their net value at any given moment is based not only on their physical condition and the near extinction of their type, but also on the current state of the market and the economic conditions of both the seller and potential buyers. Ebaybies transcend the auction block and the price of their heads to levels of adoration only previously imagined. Contrary to Walter Benjamin’s theory of ‘loss of aura’ in the age of mechanical reproduction, ebaybies provide a genuine and lasting friendship.”
The Humanities Center Gallery is typically open M-F, 8-5. The student show will be exhibited in Trinity 100, the larger space, and Wylde’s show will be exhibited in the Trinity hallway adjacent to 100. A reception for both shows will be held in the galleries on Wednesday, March 2, 5-7pm. For information, call x4642.
