Humanities Center Gallery Exhibition, April 5-May 26
The Humanities Center Gallery is exhibiting digital photographs by Tom Patton and collagraphs and monoprints by Nancy Scott Patton in The City & Other Suites April 5-May 26 in Trinity Hall.
Tom utilizes traditional and digital photographic processes in his work, while Nancy draws from photographs and memory onto the collagraph plates from which her images are printed. Where Nancy’s prints derive from history to create a lyrical, even magical view of ornamental architectural elements, Tom’s photographs exert the hard-edge austere patterns of modern cities.
Tom earned his MFA and MA in photography from the University of New Mexico and his BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. He has shown in more than 200 exhibitions, and his photographs have appeared in many publications. Tom assumed the chair of the Department of Art and Art History here in 2002.
Nancy earned her MFA in printmaking at Washington University-St. Louis. She has a BFA in fiber from the Kansas City Art Institute. Nancy currently teaches printmaking at Butte College and color theory at both Butte and Chico.
The gallery is typically open M-F, 8-5. A reception for The City will be held Thursday, April 7, 5-7pm. For information, call x4642.
