Children's Book Donation Drive at the AS Bookstore
The Associated Students Bookstore has teamed up with the City of Chico
Firefighter’s Association 2734 to deliver books to needy children in Butte County for their annual Adopt a Family program.
Monetary donations toward the purchase of children’s books are being accepted now through¬ Dec. 16 at the AS Bookstore. Upon making a donation, you will receive an ornament that says, “I am making a child happy by donating a book.” You may sign your name at the bottom and hang it on the Christmas tree in the AS Bookstore.
Money collected will be used to purchase new books for children ages 1-18 which will then be wrapped and given to children by Santa on Sat., Dec. 17 from atop a fire engine.
This is the second year the Associated Students Bookstore has participated in the program which was a success last year. For most of the children this was the first book they have ever owned and were excited to call their own. We hope to provide twice as many books as we did last year, but we need your help. Please use this opportunity to help promote literacy within Butte County. For questions, contact Kristina Hamilton at 898-5079.
