Scholarship Contest for CSU, Chico Students
The Pan African Union, along with Enterprise Rent A Car and Government Affairs Activity Fee Council, is presenting the 1st annual Miss and Mister Chico State Scholarship Contest for CSU, Chico Students. There will be two grand prize winners; each will receive a scholarship in the amount of $1,000, plus the title of Miss or Mister Chico State! All interested students need to download an application at the Web Site and follow the link that says “2006 Miss and Mister Chico State Scholarship Contest”. Application Deadline is March 24.

AS Elections are coming! And the next month will be packed with a variety of events to help the candidates campaign. National Student Exchange
Looking To Get Out of California? Want to Try Somewhere New?
All students looking to travel and study somewhere else in the United States now have the opportunity to do so through the National Student Exchange program. Although the regular deadline to participate in the exchange has passed, there are multiple universities still accepting CSU, Chico students for the 2006-2007 academic school year. Zapatista Fair Trade, Organic, Shade Grown Coffee
Zapatista Fair Trade, Organic, Shade Grown Coffee and coffee Flower Organic Honey are still part of our fund raising efforts to help the Indigenous Communities of Chiapas. Our supply is running out! If you want to participate in helping those in need this is a great opportunity to do so and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee at the same time.
We will have the coffee and the honey available at our table in the BMU on the following dates:
March 14, 16, and 21 and at the free speech area on March 23.

Society of Women Engineers Regional Conference, March 31 - April 2
The Society of Women Engineers is hosting our Regional Conference. All CSU, Chico students are welcome to attend. To register, visit our Web Site
The conference is March 31 through April 2, and the theme is Finding Balance: Powerful Resources to Life’s Challenges. We are offering a number of workshops, tours, great food and a Career Fair.
The Career Fair is open to the public, so even if someone does not register, they can attend. The Career Fair will be held Sun., April 2, 9:30am to 1:30pm.

Keeping Dance Alive! In Laxson. Tickets still available
Chico Performances and Friends of Chico Community Ballet presents a repertory dance concert - Keeping Dance Alive! March 10-12 at 7:30pm in Laxson Auditorium at California State University, Chico.

Sign Up Now for the 2006 Annual Fun Without Alcohol Fair
Student clubs and organizations are invited to host booths at the 17th Annual Fun Without Alcohol Fair on Thurs., April 27, from 10:00am - 2:00pm.
This fun-filled event, sponsored by the Campus Alcohol and Drug Education Center (CADEC), teaches local elementary school students healthy alternatives to alcohol and drug use via interactive booths, games, and great activities.
This year’s theme is “Be Cool: Alcohol & Drug Free!” Groups are encouraged to incorporate this theme into their booths, and prizes will be awarded to groups with the most creative and imaginative ideas.

Grant Opportunity for Undergraduate Students: Round Two
There is now a Round Two for submissions for the spring 2006 Undergraduate Awards for Research & Creativity.
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION SUBMISSIONS is MARCH 30, 2006, 5:00pm.
The entire spring allocation was not awarded in Round One; therefore dollars are again available for the spring cycle.

These awards were created to support undergraduate students working closely with individual faculty members on student-designed projects and to assist the faculty in providing students with special innovative learning opportunities.
Â
•    Spring awards of up to $500 each are available to undergraduates (including graduating seniors). Spring awards must be used to defray expenses; they are not a salary and cannot be given as a stipend.
•    A cumulative GPA of 3.25 or above is required.

Interested undergraduate students are encouraged to apply. Applications are available on the Honors Program door, OCNL 236. Pick up an application and review it before contacting Barbara Brautigam (898-5749) or Dr. Andrea Lerner (898-4767) with any questions you have prior to submitting your application.

Write an Original Jingle and Win Big!
Singers, songwriters, rappers and musicians are encouraged to create an original jingle and submit their entries to the Campus Alcohol & Drug Education Center’s “Don’t Drink and Drive” Jingle Contest. Original jingles can be spoken or sung and creativity and humor are encouraged. The winner and runner up will receive $300 and $150 gift certificates (respectively) and their jingle will be used in a radio campaign throughout the year. Application entries with contest rules can be picked up at the Student Activities Office in BMU 213, or at the CADEC office on Second and Cherry Streets. All entries must be accompanied by an application and are due by April 3. The contest is sponsored by CADEC with funding from the California Business, Transportation and Housing Agency, Office of Traffic Safety. For contest details, call CADEC at 898-6450.
