Want to Learn How to Grow Your Own Food?
“Chico State Goes Organic” - Learn To Grown Your Own Food
The mission of the Organic Farming Project is to create a student run organic farm at the University Farm that will serve as a living laboratory for university students, community members, elementary schools, etc. There are 10 acres at the University Farm that are certified organic, dedicated to this mission and we will be starting out using 1 acre this spring.
The aim of the project is to provide a learning component for students and agriculturalists regarding the process of growing organic food while serving as a profitable business that will supply produce to the AS Food Service and an on-campus farmer’s market. Volunteers will be able to take home produce boxes.
We need all aspects of Chico State to be involved for this to truly be a sustainable project
“Unity is only achieved through variety”
Paid Positions are available next semster, but it would help to get involved NOW. We meet Wednesdays @ 5 PM in Plumas 203 and encourage creative ideas and input. Specific areas of expertise that we need include: Agricultural Research, Computer Design, Curriculum Development, Disability Representation, Business Management, Volunteerism/Outreach, Marketing, Art, Engineering, Construction, etc.
Please email OrganicFarm@csuchico.edu for more information.

Spend a hilarious evening examining the grist of fatherhood and suburban life with Four Stand Up Dads. Featuring Tim Bedore (regularly featured on KFMF’s “The Bob & Tom Show”), Dan St. Paul, Milt Abel and Kelly McDonald, this look at fatherhood from child birth (“9lbs. 10oz. We had special cigars that said ‘It’s A Man”) to adolescence (“My bumper sticker reads ‘My son’s just getting by at Hillsdale High”) —is all meat to be skewered. Conversations on Diversity: Mechoopda - A Sense of Place, Nov. 8
Facilitated by Arlene Ward: Cultural Coordinator for the Mechoopda Indian Tribe of the Chico Rancheria
The California Indian person of the 21st century is a conversation in diversity. The land base of Indian people defined an “ecosystem” that demanded a balance for survival. The “sudden Indian death syndrome” sparked by the 1849 gold rush induced a caricature of Indian people’s ecosystem, identity, and survival in the 21st century. Is the casino a proxy land base stimulating a new ecosystem of survival? Will the romantic, euphoric memory of the Indian and the caricature of assimilation give way to the rebirth and healing of sovereign nations, for and by the Indian people, embracing acts of self-determination?
