The Upward Bound Projects, a federally funded TRiO program, is a year round program for motivated students with academic potential who want to continue their education after high school.
WAGES: $8.02 per hour starting until probationary period is completed and up to $9.37 per hour, depending on UB promotional track.

NEW COURSE - CIMT 363: Sustainability in the Built Environment; the Role of Concrete

Sustainable development is about balancing human needs with the earth’s capacity to meet them. Concrete offers a wide range of capabilities to help achieve this balance. This course will explore sustainability concepts and concerns from the perspectives of the concrete industry. Through readings, lectures, and discussion, students will learn about the basic concepts of sustainability, green buildings and LEED. The class will focus on the role of concrete in helping to meet LEED Certification. This is a participatory class, your attendance is required to earn the highest grade possible. The class will draw on the campus as a living laboratory and the community for service learning exposure. All majors welcome.

HFA Tour to Ireland with President Zingg
Students: A few Scholarship-level trips are available for the Golf in Ireland with CSU, Chico President Paul Zingg
July 21 through 31, 2007
President Paul Zingg, California State University, Chico, will lead a tour to Ireland next summer from July 21Â-31. Zingg is an expert golfer and the author of An Irish Journey: In Search of the Golf Gods, which will be released in spring 2007.
The trip will include four nights in Dublin, three in Killarney and two in Adare. There will be golfing at Druid’s Glen Golf Club, Portmarnock Golf Club, The European Club, Killarney Golf & Fishing Club—Killeen Course, Waterville Golf Links, Tralee Golf Course, Doonbeg Golf Course and the Old Course at Ballybunion.
Non-golfers are also encouraged to join the group. There will be many activities for them, including a tours of Dublin led by a local guide to such sites as St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Trinity College. Entrance fees will be covered for non-golfers to such places as Malahide Castle, Powerscourt Demesne, Cliffs of Moher and Bunratty Castle.

Call for Papers: Student Publication Opportunity for All Majors
The College of the Humanities and Fine Arts and the English Graduate Student Council hope to begin a dialogue between all of the disciplines which can be exhibited in a periodically published journal.
This issue’s theme is “The Economics of Inequality: The seen and unseen costs of discrimination.” Society is based on structures of subordination and domination of all sorts, not only those we are accustomed to think of negatively.
We are seeking submissions of academic papers, short stories, creative nonfiction, B&W photography, and line drawings that explore these topics in creative and insightful ways.
