Come in from the Cold

We have warming opportunities for music lovers:

On Saturday, Feb. 2 at 7:30pm, you can enjoy Schubert and Mozart performed by faculty Russell Burnham and Robert Bowman and guests.

Tickets are available at the University Box Office. You can book and pay for your tickets at 898-6333 and then pick up your tickets at the door to limit your time in the cold cold winds.

Apply Now for Sustainability Internships (Paid Positions Too)

The Associated Students Sustainability Program is recruiting interns and volunteers for the following projects or committees in spring 2008:

Sustainability Education Coordinator
Sustainability Fieldtrip Coordinator
Green Building Workshop Organizer
Grant Writer
Earth Month Committee member
Sustainability Assessments
“Take It Back” campaign for recovery of CFLs
“Take Back The Tap” campaign on water issues
Zero Waste Task Force member
Sustainability Outreach in the Residence Halls
Green Greeks Outreach Coordinator

Interns will be expected to take the lead on a project or committee, while volunteers will have the opportunity to help with a variety of projects. Academic credit available for both interns and volunteers. Applications will be accepted until February 8 but paid positions will be filled as soon as qualified applicants can be found. Classic Americana Music, Jan. 27

Join the acclaimed vocalists of Anonymous 4 as they embark on a journey into Americana, along with special guests Darol Anger on fiddle and mandolin, and Scott Nygaard on guitar. Their fall tour, entitled the “Long Time Traveling Tour,” features lyric folk songs and religious ballads, spiritual and gospel hymns and folk blues which were recorded on their two previous albums American Angels, and Gloryland. Highlights will include haunting versions of “Poor Wayfaring Stranger,” a wildly different setting of “Shall We Gather at the River,” and Anonymous 4’s arrangements of gospel favorites “Just Over in the Gloryland,” and “Green Pastures.”

Director of Student Health Services named

I am pleased to announce that Catherine Felix has accepted the position of Director of Student Health Services. She will officially start on March 1, 2008. Catherine has over 19 years of experience in the health field, which includes ten years in higher education at California State University, Fullerton and California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Catherine currently serves as the Assistant Director of Student Health and Counseling at Cal State Fullerton. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines, and is currently enrolled in graduate studies at Cal State Fullerton. Please join me in welcoming Catherine to California State University, Chico.
Additionally, I would like to thank the entire staff at the health center for their ongoing commitment to the good health and wellbeing of our students.
