Parent Guide

View the 2016-2017 Chico State Parent Guide

Dear Chico State Families,

Welcome to Chico, one of the few true college towns in the nation. Your student is embarking on a journey that will include exposure to and involvement in all the elements that make Chico such a special place. We are excited to begin a new school year and we are glad that you and your family will be a part of it.

The purpose of the parent guide is to highlight events and topics that will be of interest to new members of the Chico State family. We want you to experience all that Chico State has to offer. This guide will offer some ways for you to get involved. You will also find some great ideas you can share with your student about campus and community life and resources. The unique blending of campus and community here provides an artistic and cultural environment that is more common to large metropolitan centers than small communities like Chico.

We invite you to explore Chico and its neighboring communities. There really is something available to delight every member of the family. Plan to come back to Chico often - but especially for The Chico Experience Week October 7-16, 2016 and join us for our annual Family Weekend BBQ on October 8. We recommend that you make your lodging reservations early, as most hotels in the area fill up early for busy weekends. It is my hope that you will find Chico State to be a place that lives up to its reputation for providing great service and care for your entire family. Please do not hesitate to contact me, or any member of the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations staff with any questions or concerns you might have. It is the goal of all of us to make the next few years wonderful and exciting for your entire family. We welcome you, and are looking forward to getting to know you better.
