Faculty Recruitment Outreach Resources
These advertising and recruitment resources links are
designed to assist faculty search committees in their
outreach efforts to develop a well qualified and diverse
pool of applicants from a broad audience. They include
general publications, higher education journals,
organizations serving minority and women professionals, and
discipline-specific academic and professional organizations.
This list is not intended to be exhaustive. Depending upon
the specialization, each search committee may utilize
additional resources known to the department.
Think creatively about ways to attract a diverse pool by
advertising in newsletters produced by professional
organizations or researching "listservs" (e-mail
groups) which advertise
positions for their members at no cost. Further, to reach a
broad audience, it is recommended that publications of wide
appeal be utilized (e.g., Chronicle of Higher Education).
Finally, networking with colleagues and schools with a
strong program or significant number of prospective
applicants can be an effective method of recruitment.
