Issues for Paper #2

This is a list of possible issues to discuss for the second half of Paper #2:

Issue A: did the media do enough to inform us about whether the bush administration’s claims that iraq had weapons of mass destruction were reliable?

Issue B: does the media have an obligation to give us balanced coverage of matters of national concern or is their obligation only to their interests as a business?

Issue C: did the media play a role in making a connection between 9/11 and saddam hussein, and what role should they have played?

Issue D: how can we best become sufficiently informed about what’s really going on to be responsible citizens of a democracy?

Issue E: is the media’s current interest in exposing the questionable justifications for war with iraq an election year ploy to sell newspapers, a welcome return to their role as democracy’s watchdog, a day late and a dollar short, or something else--and why is it important to decide?
