What is a Syllogism?

The Classic Syllogism

All humans are mortal.
Socrates is a human
Therefore, Socrates is mortal.

All   1 --> 2 MAJOR PREMISE
       3 --> 1 minor premise
So,  3 -->  2 Conclusion

A syllogism consists of exactly three claims, two of which are premises and one of which is the conclusion.

In logic, it is the basic form of an argument.

Some Examples:

Anyone who has published their first novel would qualify as the most interesting person in the class.
Jada has  published her first novel.
Therefore, Jada is the most interesting person in the class.

Some things that have no edges are round.
The earth has no edges.
Therefore, the earth is round.

Whenever I watch the 49'ers game from beginning to end, they win.
I want the 49'ers to win.
Therefore, I should watch the 49'ers games from beginning to end more often.
