Freecycle@work
Freecycle@work is a free web application to make the reuse of furniture and office supplies easier for the campus community. It is a website that can be used to post unwanted office supplies or furniture or to search for things that your department may need. You may have a desk you no longer need or are in search of a chair, check out freecycle@work to either offer your item or to search among the items listed by our campus. You must have a csuchico.edu email address to log in. The items that are posted online must be from campus; no personal items will be permitted. This site is only used for state equipment; foundation items may not be added. If any item is posted that has a state decal, a property transaction form must be filled out and sent to the Property Management Office to finalize the transfer. To have any heavy items moved on campus, please submit a non-emergency service request through FMS. If the items can be moved within the users of freecycle, please do so.
Once you have created an account and would like to view or post an item, choose csuchico.edu Freecycle Application. This now gives you the option of either posting something, looking at items offered or even inviting your co-workers. Once you have selected that you want to post an item, please add a description under Item. You can then select if you are offering that item or if you are wanting an item. The Pickup location should be where the item is being held; building and room number. Please do not place any items you have posted in the hallways of your building; this will avoid any possible fire hazards. Under item details, you can describe the condition and add a brief description of the item, measurements of the item and a contact phone number. To add a photo, please follow the instructions. We highly recommend adding pictures to make this application that much easier to view.
If your item is not selected by someone on campus in approximately 30 days, the posting will be deleted. If you would like to have your item then moved from your office to the surplus warehouse, please submit a non-emergency service request through FMS. The moving crew will move your item accordingly.
This web application does not replace the campus surplus program. The Property Management Office will still hold surplus viewings on the first Thursdays of the month for staff and faculty members. Freecycle@work was created to make items that are already on campus easier for the campus community to view and to save a possible trip to the warehouse.
