Matthew Thomas (Ph.D., University of Maryland, 2000), joined the faculty here at CSU, Chico in the fall of 2001. He previously served as a visiting assistant professor at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Here at CSU, Chico he teaches classes in public administration, criminal justice, and political science (including vital political problems, public management, introduction to criminal justice, introduction to public administration, political movements and political change, American political economy, and the Senior Capstone for criminal justice majors). His research focuses on reform and reorganization in American policing, and he is the author or co-author of several reports submitted to the National Institute of Justice. In addition, he is an active conference participant, and in the past year has attended meetings of the American Political Science Association, the Midwest Political Science Association, the Urban Affairs Association, the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, and the Western Political Science Association. He has several co-authored articles that are either under review at a journal, or being revised for journal submission. Professor Thomas supervises public administration and criminal justice internships, the latter of which are part of the new B.A. in Criminal Justice degree program.
