Catalina Sanchez and Jacob Buffenbarger received the 2014 Chuck Price Sacramento Internship Award from Professor Diana Dwyre at the Annual Capital Alumni Luncheon in March.

Loren Collingwood, who graduated cum laude with a political science minor and a psychology major in 2002, is now an assistant professor of political science at UC Riverside. Loren won the Western Political Science Association Best Dissertation Award for his dissertation, "The Pursuit of Victory and Incorporation: Elite Strategy, Group Pressure, and Cross-Racial Mobilization," which he completed at the University of Washington. The award is given for the best dissertation from the Western United States. Loren was a member of the Chico State chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society, and played on the Chico State soccer team.

Alumnus (political science major, international relations minor) Nate Steffen accepted a tenure-track assistant professorship at Bismarck State College in North Dakota. As part of his interview process, Nate discussed the Town Hall Meeting here. His colleagues in North Dakota are quite interested in it.

Criminal justice alumna Lindsey Bacher, was accepted to graduate school at the University of Illinois, Chicago.

Model UN team exceeds our expectations yet again! The team was awarded the over- all Outstanding Delegation Award and took an unprecedented seven outstanding Position Paper Awards at the National MUN in New York. They competed against more than 200 colleges and universities from around the world. Chico State placed in the top two percent internationally!

Eleanor Anderson was accepted into the political science PhD program at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque.

Political Statements is the official newsletter of the Political Science Department at California State University, Chico.

With around 1,000 total majors, Political Science is one of the largest departments at Chico State. Students choose courses from a rich curriculum, providing close student-faculty contact in each of the following majors of study: general political science, legal studies, criminal justice, international relations, and public administration. The department also offers a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Arts in Political Science.
