Many of our alumni and students deserve congratulations! Taylor Toretto (International Relations) winner of the CORO Fellowship; Nate Steffen (Political Science) internship at the International Criminal Court at the Hague; Bob Linscheid (Master of Public Administra-tion) appointed president and CEO of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce; Jarrod Agurkis (Public Administration) named Butte County Correctional Deputy of the Year; Gibran Maciel (Political Science) a legislative aide for the California State Assembly; Perry Reniff (Political Science) named into the Oroville Union High School District Hall of Fame; Houawa Moua (Master of Public Administration) working on environmental regulations in Del Norte County; Jack Ditty (Criminal Justice) recently hired by the Chico Police Department as a police officer; Kane Lausten (Criminal Justice) recently hired by Colusa County as a deputy sheriff; Brittany Kasik (Criminal Justice/Paralegal Certificate), paralegal for the Federal Defender’s Office, was accepted to UC Irvine’s graduate program in criminology, law, and society; Ashley Totah (Criminal Justice) was accepted to CSU, Northridge’s MSW program; Sarah Messer (Criminal Justice), Kendall Urrutia (Criminal Justice), David Malinoski (Criminal Justice), and Ernesto Telly (Criminal Justice) recently hired by Sentinel Offender Services in the Day Reporting Center for the Butte County Sheriff’s Office. 

Political Statements is the official newsletter of the Political Science Department at California State University, Chico.

With around 1,000 total majors, Political Science is one of the largest departments at Chico State. Students choose courses from a rich curriculum, providing close student-faculty contact in each of the following majors of study: general political science, legal studies, criminal justice, international relations, and public administration. The department also offers a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Arts in Political Science.
