Micah is very excited to be part of the PowerSave Campus team and cannot wait to begin making CSU Chico a greener, more sustainable campus. He is currently a kinesiology major and decided to join PSC because he wishes to minimize the footprint we humans have on our environment, keeping our earth pristine for years to come. He hopes to uphold Chico State's reputation for being a leader in sustainability, and wants to spread awareness about renewable energy needs. Only in his sophomore year of school, Micah is eager to see what this position has in store for him!
Kaitlin Haley is a Cultural Anthropology major with a double minor in Managing for Sustainability and Environmental Studies. A native of coastal Southern California and an avid outdoor enthusiast the beauty and sacredness of the natural environment has inspired her to do everything she can to protect it, part of that being teaching others to conserve and appreciate the natural recourses the earth provides.
Kaitlin is extremely excited to be a member of the PowerSave team and anxious for the collaboration that comes with the meeting of passionate people. The past two years at Chico State, Kaitlin has been extremely involved in helping progress the sustainability goals of the University. As the past Commissioner of Environmental Affairs she has worked extensively to identify ways to make Chico State a leader in Sustainability and is ready to see how her leadership skills can now be used within the PowerSave team. Her goals are to increase outreach and education through ways of incorporating simple energy saving technology and how to make changes that contrast old cultural practices of over consumption.
Brianna Russell, a Sustainable Manufacturing student at California State University, Chico, has devoted her college experience to promoting sustainability. Bree’s involvement during her time in Chico has been diverse and enriching. Academically, she has focused on reducing waste and increasing efficiency in manufacturing processes. Furthermore, Bree has interned for the campus sustainability office, coordinating community outreach. Her involvement with PowerSave Campus stemmed from her desire to improve the campus in a meaningful way. Bree spends a great deal of her free time mountain biking and hiking the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. An avid tinkerer, she is also waist deep in the restoration of a vintage Honda café racer. Regardless of what she may be doing any given day, the tenets of sustainability inspire Bree to always put the planet first.
Jordan is a junior at CSU, Chico currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science focusing on Energy and Earth Resources and a minor in Physics. He is an avid adventurer who frequently finds himself climbing mountains in Lassen National Park, backpacking along the Northern California coastline, whitewater kayaking, rafting, stand-up paddle boarding and rock climbing throughout the north state. His love for nature and the environment has been his driving force in trying to protect it.
PowerSave is giving him the opportunity to make the positive changes towards sustainability that reflect his personal environmental ethics. His constant immersions into nature have showed him what is at stake if we do not make the effort to preserve the environment. He hopes to start a career in the energy field focusing on research and development of sustainable energy sources. He is looking forward to the opportunities to improve his effect on the environment that PowerSave will offer.
Jordyn is a sophomore at CSU, Chico majoring in Animal Science in the Pre-Veterinary Program. From rural Northern California, Jordyn has a longstanding connection with the outdoors. She loves nature, working with animals around her farm and riding her horse. Living on a sustainable ranch, she has always felt that agriculture across the nation should implement sustainable practices.
Jordyn feels honored to be a part of the PowerSave team to not only expand her knowledge of energy practices, but also to take active steps towards creating more sustainable energy habits. Her goal is to bring sustainable energy practices to the campus and bring awareness to the University Farm. Since agriculture is a vital part of our society, Jordyn feels that there is a huge opportunity to introduce alternative energy which will impact people worldwide. Her major, coupled with experience in sustainable farming, will help integrate agriculture into PowerSave.
