ACADEMIC CALENDARS

In response to the Chancellor's Office Coded Memorandum HR 2006-08 and academic calendar guidelines, it is necessary to adjust the start date for the fall 2006 semester to Thursday, August 17, 2006 . Therefore, the fall 2006 academic calendar entry for "Academic year begins; all faculty on duty" is changed from Wednesday, August 16, 2006 to Thursday, August 17, 2006.

Colleges, departments, enrollment management, and student services units will need to adjust their fall 2006 Orientation Week activities or events that involve faculty, to begin on Thursday, August 17, the first academic workday of the semester.

Fall 2006 classes begin Monday, August 21, 2006.

This very early start for the fall 2006 Semester is due to Christmas falling on a Monday and allows for the scheduling of finals week from December 11 to 15 and winter closure from December 18 to January 1.
