Approval of a Minor Change to the BA in Criminal Justice

Executive Memorandum 13-060 September 12, 2013

From: Paul J. Zingg, President

Subject: Approval of a Minor Change to the BA in Criminal Justice

Upon the recommendation of the Provost, I approve a minor change to the BA in Criminal Justice. This change updates the curriculum to better serve the students. The number of units for the major will reduce from 55 to 53. The number of courses required in the core program will increase from 7 to 8. SOCI 384 will move from the list of required courses to a new elective list within the core where the student will choose from either POLS 363: Crime Prevention or SOCI 384: Criminology. A reorganization of the curriculum will create two disciplinary areas: Institutions & Law and Justice Studies. The student will choose 6 courses from one area of study and 4 courses from the other area of study depending upon the interests and focus of the student. This change will be effective Fall 2014.
