Executive Memorandum 05-11, EO 927 Compliance Committee (Replaced by EM 06-01)
PREAMBLE
Upon the recommendation of the Academic Senate, the
EO 927 Compliance Committee is constituted.
CHARGE
The EO 927 Compliance Committee will serve as an advisory
committee that reports annually to the Academic Senate. The purpose of the
committee is to aid in the implementation of EO 927. EO 927 broadens
the scope of what was once the CSU's sexual harassment policy to one that
prohibits unlawful harassment based on any statutory category protected by
the Fair Employment and Housing Act. EO 927 reemphasizes the importance
of training the CSU community on anti-harassment and anti-retaliation policies
and procedures in order to prevent and correct harassment.
The University EO 927 Compliance Committees charge
will focus on preventing and correcting unlawful harassment based on the statutory
categories protected by the Fair Employment and Housing Act (i.e. , race, color,
religion, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, marital status,
pregnancy, age, physical disability, mental disability, medical condition,
and covered veteran status) through education and other outreach efforts. Additionally, the Committee will focus education and outreach efforts on anti-retaliation
policies and procedures. The committee will not be directly involved in receiving
harassment complaints, investigating such complaints, or developing resolutions.
Responsibilities of the committee include but are not limited to
recommending revisions to anti-harassment and anti-retaliation policies
and procedures;
increasing awareness of the Universitys anti-harassment and anti-retaliation
policies and procedures through on-going education and outreach efforts
(e.g. , training programs, workshops, speakers, conferences, publications);
partnering with other campus and community organizations to identify potential
problems and proactively address all forms of harassment;
providing a forum to discuss general campus harassment issues and concerns
(excluding personal harassment complaints);
assessing the campus climate and the efficacy of anti-harassment and anti-retaliation
policies and procedures;
addressing other issues related to management/employee relations. (For
example, hostile work environment)
TYPE
The University EO 927 Compliance Committee is a permanent
committee as authorized by Article VI, Section 2 of the Academic Senate Constitution.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The University EO 927 Compliance Committee reports to
the Faculty and Student Policies Committee of the Academic Senate. The committee
will provide a report in the spring semester.

One representative appointed by the Director of Housing
Chair of the University Affirmative Action committee or designee
One faculty, who is a FASP member appointed by Senate Executive Committee
One staff, who is a FASP member appointed by the Senate Executive
Committee
At its first meeting, the committee will determine how the staggered
terms will be allocated.
Officers: The Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary will be elected by the
committee.
First Meeting: The faculty FASP member will call the first meeting in
September.
