Executive Memorandum 06-28, Approval for Center for Nutrition and Activity Promotion |
Upon the recommendation of the Academic Senate and with the concurrence of the Provost, I approve the establishment of the Center for Nutrition and Activity Promotion, effective spring 2006.
The Center for Nutrition and Activity Promotion will be housed within the College
of Natural Sciences. The Center's purpose is to serve the nutrition, fitness,
and health education needs of the CSU, Chico service region residents and to
promote substantial contact with service region communities. The Center will
promote collaborative multidisciplinary research among CSU, Chico faculty and
provide opportunities for undergraduate and graduate student pre-professional
practice, service learning, and research. The Center will encompass six programs:
OPT for Fit Kids (http://www.optforfitkids.org/), Sierra Cascade Nutrition and
Activity Consortium (http://www.scnac.org/), 5 a Day Power Play Campaign
(http://www.dhs.ca.gov/ps/cdic/cpns/powerplay/), Safe Students/Healthy Students,
StepFit pedometer based walking program (http://www.stepfitusa.com/),
and Evaluation Services.
