Subject:	Executive Memorandum 89-01, Approval for Changes to French Minor

I approve the proposed revisions to the minor in French for implementation effective fall 1989. The revisions, which change the total number of course requirements for the minor from 20-26 to 12-32 units, include the following:

Upper-division requirements, 12 units, include:

9 units, one course to be chosen from each of the following pairs:

FREN 100A or B Composition and Advanced Grammar 3 units
FREN 140A or B Survey of French Literature 3 units
FREN 110 or 120 Advanced Conversation or Phonetics 3 units

3 additional units from any other upper-division French course.

Lower division requirements remain the same.
