Subject:	Executive Memorandum 93-12, Approval of Center for Manufacturing Excellence

Following a report to the Educational Policies Committee, the proposed Center for Manufacturing Excellence was recommended for approval by the Provost. I approve implementation of this Center, effective immediately. The Center for Manufacturing Excellence is located within the colleges of Business and Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology. The primary goals of the Center for Manufacturing Excellence are 1) to facilitate the transfer of technology to businesses in Northern California, to be accomplished through seminars and joint research projects; 2) to provide a focal point for funding for equipment and technology in the manufacturing area; and 3) to support curriculum enhancement in manufacturing areas through the Center for Manufacturing Excellence-based research projects.
