Professional Studies in Education - CSU, Chico

Early Childhood Special Education Certificate Program

Program Purpose

The purpose of the CSU, Chico Special Education Program is to improve the quality of rural special education services to pupils and their families. The Early Childhood Program is a partnership of northeastern California public schools, federal and state governments, public and private agencies, and the University. Its unique collaborative design has earned it national honors.

Qualified individuals earn their special education credentials or certificates while employed in early childhood special education settings.

For those who currently hold a California basic teaching credential, the program includes requirements for the Severely Handicapped or Learning Handicapped credential. Those already credentialed in special education take the local certificate courses only.
