Lesson 5: The Elements of Service-Learning

| OVERVIEW |
This lesson introduces Seven Elements of High Quality Service-Learning developed by the
Service-Learning 2000 Center at Stanford University. These elements provide clear criteria for
the development, implementation, and evaluation of service-learning activities. Depending upon
the age & grade level of the students, the elements of service-learning will vary, but each
element is important to plan for at every grade level.

- Recognize the differences between high service and low service, unrelated learning
and related learning service projects.
