| OVERVIEW |
This lesson discusses the benefits to the student, the community and the school when a service
project component is introduced into the academic curriculum. For years, communities have
invited their local schools to become more actively involved in everyday activities;
likewise, schools have welcomed the involvement of the community in student activities.
Service-learning provides a link between schools and communities.
