Lesson 8: Addressing the Learning Needs of Special Education Students

 OVERVIEW
This lesson introduces the need to provide opportunities for students with special learning needs the opportunity to engage in service-learning as providers of service. An integrated academic/service-learning unit written by a teacher candidate is examined as an example of how students with special needs can engage in an appropriate service-learning experience.

 COMPETENCIES
After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
  1. Discuss the importance and benefits of providing an opportunity for students with special learning needs to participate in service-learning as providers of service.
