After much consumption of pizza, Psi Chi officers and prospective members all introduced themselves. A Presentation of the history of Psi Chi was then given by Dr. Vela. Requirements for local and national membership were given. To become a national member you must have a 3.0 overall GPA with 3 psychology classes completed at a 3.0 or above. Transfer credit will work toward this. Prospective members filled out applications for local or national membership. Requirements for formal induction were discussed as well as the Psi Chi point system. Community service opportunities were overviewed as well as suggestions for events. Applications for volunteer service at the Butte Humane Society were passed out. They will have an orientation at 2-3 Saturday the 16th at their center in Chico. National and local dues were discussed. To be a local member it is $15 dollars and to be a national member it is a one time membership fee of $35.
Future events were also discussed. There will be a burger feed fundraiser on Wednesday, October 4th from 5-9 at the Bear. Tickets will be available at the next meeting. There will be a lecture on Design Psychology on October 19th from 2-4 p.m. in Pac 134.We will be selling tickets to a special event at the mall for $5 each to raise funds for Psi chi.

The next meeting will be the 27th of September and will be in Modoc 114. A speaker from Rape Crisis will give a talk and then at 8:00 we will head over to Wood Stocks Pizza.
