Dear Alums

 As the new director of Alumni and Parent Relations, I must tell you that returning to educational advancement is a dream come true. Having served as the executive director of the alum associations at both the University of Houston and UC, Santa Barbara, I am well aware of the intrinsic satisfaction that comes with working in a university environment. After several years in the private sector, I will be enjoying those rewards again. Before accepting this position, I spent several hours with President Esteban, Vice President Moore, and Associate Vice President Masterson, and it is obvious that the CSU, Chico Alumni Association is in a position to help the University and improve the educational experience of its students. The technical infrastructure is in place, and the commitment of the administration is evident. Additionally, the loyalty and commitment of Chico alums is well known throughout the CSU system and has been communicated to me by several other alumni directors. My goal is to design and implement programs that minister to the needs and wishes of our alums and parents and also to work with departments to enhance the quality of education Chico State offers. In order to accomplish this, I will need the assistance of many members of the Chico family: students, faculty, staff, parents, and alums. As alums, we have an obligation and privilege to contribute to the educational experience of today’s students. Just as others reached out to help us when we were younger, it is now our turn to lend support wherever and however we can. Having said this, be assured that I will be asking alums and parents my favorite question, “Will you help?” I am confident your answer will be a resounding, “Yes!” I bring a great passion for educational excellence, and I look forward to helping you express your passion for our university.
