History professor Lisa Emmerich was interviewed in a Feb. 27, 1999, Fresno Bee story about the process of returning the remains of Ishi, the reputed last Yahi Indian, to California from the Smithsonian.

History professor Charles Geshekter was quoted in a March 3, 1999, New York Times article about the trend of universities providing more rules and supervision for students.

Anthropology professor P. Willey was interviewed in a March 18, 1999, San Jose Mercury News story about the aftermath of the search for a missing girl and how authorities may keep a victim's remains for some time after their discovery.

Accounting and management information systems professors Michael Wang and Kent Sandoe were interviewed for a March 21, 1999, San Jose Mercury News story about CSU, Chico's relationship with Cisco Systems and other partnerships between corporations and universities.

CSU, Chico archeologists were mentioned in a May 30 story in the San Jose Mercury News about excavations in San Jose's Chinatown area.

Anthropology professor Turhon Murad was featured in a June 5 article in the Redding Record-Searchlight about some ancient Native American bones found in a septic tank.

A project by construction management professors Rovane Younger and Richard Holman to strengthen levees using waste tires was the subject of a news item in the June 8 Sacramento Bee. The project also received attention from many other Sacramento, Chico, and Valley media outlets.

Physical education and exercise science professor Cathrine Himberg was featured in a June 13 article in the Oakland Tribune and a Nov. 22 article in the San Francisco Chronicle about her efforts to make P. E. classes more fun and inclusive.

President Manuel A. Esteban and Vice Provost Bob Hannigan were quoted in a July 22 front page story in the Sacramento Bee on the university's increasing popularity with prospective students.

Psychology professor Edward Abramson was quoted in the July/August issue of Weight Watchers Magazine, the December issue of Redbook, and other 1999 issues of New Woman, Fitness, and American Health magazines. He is the author of the new book To Have and to Hold: How to Take Off the Weight When Marriage Puts on the Pounds.

Professor emeritus Charles Adams was featured in an Aug. 2 San Jose Mercury News article about his 1971 book, Boon-tling: An American Lingo. The article discussed how boontling, a local jargon spoken in Boonville, CA, was disappearing.

Associated Students general manager David Buckley was quoted in an Aug. 11 front page story in the Sacramento Bee about competition in selling college textbooks.

Chemistry professor Jim Postma was featured in an Aug. 27 San Francisco Chronicle article and numerous Associated Press articles about a new device using infrared light that he and area farmer Brian Pierce have invented to eradicate pests.

English lecturer Susan Aylworth was quoted in an Aug. 30 U.S. News and World Report article on domestic violence impacting romance novel authors. Aylworth is the author of seven romance novels.

Political science professor Chuck Price was quoted in a Sept. 16 Oakland Tribune editorial about the ballot initiative process in California. Price also authored an article in the September California Journal about voter approval margins of state justices.

CSU, Chico's University Life class was highlighted in an Oct. 15 New York Times article about college classes that provide useful skills for incoming students.

Orion adviser Dave Waddell was quoted in a Nov. 12 Sacramento Bee story about the CSU, Chico student newspaper's most recent national journalism award.

Adjunct professor Bill Wattenburg, 1999 distinguished alumni award winner, was featured in a Nov. 15 New York Times article about his computer science solution to Y2K problems.
