Helping To Make CSU, Chico Better

1997-98 Outstanding Teacher

The Faculty Recognition and Support Committee selected history professor Dale Steiner as the 1997-98 Outstanding Teacher. Steiner was named a CSU, Chico Master Teacher in 1995, a CSU, Chico Outstanding Adviser in 1996, and an Outstanding Adviser by the National Academic Advising Association in 1996.

Most recently, Steiner has been the principal investigator and co-director of the North State History-Social Science project, which brings together Chico State faculty and regional high school history and social science teachers in summer institutes devoted to teaching and learning.

Steiner's service to students, particularly as adviser to history credential students, involves encouraging students to become public school teachers, acquainting them with curricular materials, and modeling the dedication and commitment of a lifelong teacher.
