Grants and Contracts
Sponsored Programs brought over $28 million to the campus in 1998-99 to fund such projects as the Special Education Internship and the new Concurrent Multiple Subject/ Special Education Program. Over $3 million in federal and state grants provided for mentor teachers and scholarships. The Environmental Resource Program, established in 1998, coordinates university projects in the environmental and natural resources areas and has approximately $2 million in grants and contracts that provide faculty, staff, and students from agriculture, geography and planning, natural sciences, and engineering with research experiences. The Watershed/Riparian Restoration projects in watershed management include salmon habitat and creek restoration. A partnership between CSU, Chico and IBM Corporation has resulted in the IBM Networks Laboratory where students and faculty receive training in computer networks and administration. Students who complete the courses qualify for internships with IBM.
The Wildcat baseball team won the 1999 NCAA Division II National Championship, its second national championship in three years.
