Awards Professor Robert Cottrell, Department of History, and vice provost for Information Resources, Frederick Ryan, received two of five California State University Wang Family Excellence awards. Cottrell, Outstanding Professor 1998 - 99, has published three noteworthy biographies -- Izzy: A Biography of I.F. Stone, The Social Gospel of E. Nicholas Comfort, and Roger Nash Baldwin and the ACLU. CSU, Chico's Northstate Public Radio's Todd Thornton won the Associated Press Television and Radio Association's Best News Commentary Award of 1999 for "State of the Schools." The university has formed partnerships with such corporations as Hewlett-Packard, IBM, SAP America, and Cisco Systems Inc. These corporations donate laboratory equipment and computer hardware and software that allow for state-of-the-art teaching and research. The benefits of these partnerships include
