Off Broadway Touring Ensemble

MFA STUDENT HEATHER BERGSTROM WON THE $1,000 Willard Espy Award from the University of Washington for her short story “Lake with the Dead Indian’s Name.”

BUDDING CRITIC MARGO MELCON, THEATRE SENIOR, WON the regional Critics Competition during the 2001 American College Theatre Festival Region VII Conference in Fresno. She placed second in the national finals held in Washington, D.C. Melcon was one of 22 students chosen in an adjudicated competition to participate in the regional conference.

ERNST SCHOEN-RENE, ENGLISH WAS SELECTED AS A 2001 Outstanding Adviser by the National Academic Advising Association.

OFF-BROADWAY IS A NEW TOURING ENSEMBLE CREATED by Rogers, director of the Musical Theatre program. Off-Broadways gives ensemble members performance opportunities and experience as stage managers, crew members, and choreographers. Twelve performances and a Southern California tour are scheduled for the 2001–2002 year.

A NEW INTERACTIVE LANGUAGE laboratory allows foreign language students to access and download multimedia learning materials via the Internet. This virtual laboratory is part of a collaborative project between CSU, Chico and four other CSU campuses.

JAMES KARMAN, ENGLISH, PUBLISHED STONES of the Sur: Poetry by Robinson Jeffers, Stanford University Press, 2001. Karman, an expert on the life and work of California poet Robinson Jeffers, has also published Robinson Jeffers: Poet of California and Of Uma Jeffers: A Memoir.
