CSU, CHICO'S FORNESIC TEAM PLACED FIRST IN THE WESTERN division of intercollegiate debate, with more than 200 universities participating. Graduate student Kristi Morioka was awarded Critic of the Year at the national competition. FOUR TEACHER CANDIDATES FROM THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION received $20,000 Governor’s Teaching Fellowships, which support teachers preparing to teach in low-performing schools. TWO GRANTS TOTALING $73,000 WILL PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES for special education faculty to assess intern teacher performance and pupil growth. Interns and faculty will then develop instruction based on pupil needs. More than 100 special education interns staff classrooms in our 14-county region. AL JACKSON, RECREATION AND PARKS MANAGEMENT, RECEIVED THE National Society of Parks and Recreation Educators Innovating Teaching Award. Jackson has developed summer day camp and international military recreation programs that provide unique opportunities for students to work with children.
