Sophomore
J.J. Jakovac won the National Collegiate Athletic
Association Individual Golf Championship in Florida to cap
a season that included six tournament wins. He was named California
Collegiate Athletic Association Athlete of the Year, as well
as CCAA Golfer of the Year.
The Wildcat baseball team competed in the
Division II Baseball Championship in Alabama for the fourth
time in six years. The team placed second in the nation. Two
Wildcats were named to the NCAA Division II All-America teams.
CSU, Chico's softball team won the Division
II West Regional Championship in Davis, California. At the
Division II national championship in Virginia, they finished
as one of the top four teams. Pitcher Katie Stokx was named
CCAA Freshman of the Year.
Senior
Christa Tebbs captured the national pole-vault title
at the NCAA Division II Championship in Texas. Five track
and field Wildcats earned All-America status.
In the regionals, the men's track and field team
took the CCAA conference title, while the women's team took
third behind UC Davis and UC San Diego. Tebbs won her third
straight conference pole-vault title; Jessica Saltzman repeated
as high-jump champion.
