U.S. News and World Report: America’s Best Colleges 2003 put CSU, Chico fourth, tied with San Jose State university, in the Top Public Universities in the West that offer master’s degrees.

Recruitment and Placement

CSU, Chico maintains one of the strongest and most respected on-campus corporate recruiting programs on the West Coast. In a 2002 survey of employers, recruiters rated 86 percent of Chico students outstanding or above average compared to other universities. Graduates of several programs, including special education, speech pathology, nursing, and construction management enjoy a near 100 percent employment rate. For example, 2003 graduates in construction management on average interviewed with five companies and received 2.3 job offers. All graduates were placed. The average starting salary was $48,500 in a range of $41,000 to $60,000.

Information Technology

CSU, Chico was the first university in the system to offer a 24-hour computing laboratory and 24-hour phone assistance.

Multimedia laboratory allows students to edit digital video, create Web pages and graphics, and scan materials.

NetStudy rooms are available for student groups that need a shared computer and Internet connection.

The Assistive Technology Center provides proactive support for access to technology by students with physical and learning disabilities.

Liberal Studies Online (LSO), preparation for elementary teaching, has been offered online since spring 2002 to students throughout California studying to be elementary education teachers.
