U.S. News and World Report: America’s Best Colleges 2006 put CSU, Chico fourth in the Top Public Universities in the West that offer master’s degrees. Schools are ranked on such items as retention (the number of freshmen who return), faculty resources, student selectivity, and graduation rate.

Recruitment and Placement

CSU, Chico maintains one of the strongest and most respected on-campus corporate recruiting programs on the West Coast. In a spring 2005 survey of employers, recruiters rated 85 percent of Chico students outstanding or above average compared to other universities. Graduates of several programs, including special education, speech-language pathology, nursing, and construction management enjoy a near 100 percent employment rate. For example, spring 2005 graduates in construction management were recruited by 80 companies and, on average, interviewed with five companies. They received two to three job offers at salary offerings of $50,000 and above. All graduates received jobs.

Information Resources

Academic Technologies was awarded the 2005 New Media Consortium (NMC) Center of Excellence Award. NMC is an international consortium of colleges, universities, and museums. This is the highest honor bestowed by the NMC and recognizes demonstrated excellence and outstanding achievement in the application of technology to learning or creative expression.

A campus portal provides single sign-on access to online registration, online courses, Web-based e-mail, grades, and personalized campus information 24 hours a day.

Secure wireless networking is available in the library, Bell Memorial Union, and residence halls.

Online course tools are widely used across campus, providing convenient and efficient access to syllabi, class notes, lectures, quizzes, group discussions and collaboration, and more.

Student computing labs and student help desk in the library are open until 2 am. NetStudy rooms in the library serve small groups of students with a shared computer and large-screen display
