Chico State Athletics among Nation’s Best
For the fourth straight year, the Wildcats finished in the top 20 in the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Directors’ Cup standings.
Serrano, Bauhs Claim National Titles
Charlie Serrano and Scott Bauhs claimed the University’s first two distance national titles. Bauhs won the 10,000-meter final and finished second in the 5,000-meter final, behind Serrano.
Volleyball Team Makes History
The Chico State volleyball team advanced to the NCAA Championship Pacific Region semifinals with a 21-6 season. The team, ranked No. 15 in the nation, featured All-Americans Erica Brick and Jamie Houle and CCAA Coach of the Year Cody Hein.
Women’s Basketball Sweet Again
The Chico State women’s basketball team advanced to the NCAA Championship Tournament Sweet 16 for the third consecutive year. The team’s 24 wins were the second most in school history, and its 18 conference wins matched the school record.
Cross Country Finishes in Top Five
The men’s cross country team finished fourth at the NCAA National Championships, the fifth top-five finish in the last five years. Scott Bauhs, Charlie Serrano, and Antonio Miramontes each earned All-American honors. All-American Mary Torres led the women’s squad to a ninth-place national finish, making it six times in the last seven years that the team has finished in the top ten.
