MBA Student Wins National Writing Competition

Beth Dunn won first prize in the Carl Menconi Ethics Case Writing Competition sponsored by the Institute for Management Accounts (IMA). Her case study, written for her internship project in the Master of Business Administration program, will be published in the IMA magazine, Strategic Finance.

Business Resource Center Contributes to Make-A-Wish Foundation

Students in the Business Resource Center organized the eighth annual Make-A-Wish Benefit Concert, annual golf tournaments, and other events to raise more than $55,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

National Security Certification

The Department of Accounting and Management Information Systems received certification of information security competency from the Committee on National Security Systems, the first step in becoming a Center for Excellence with the National Security Agency.

Pilot Site for Net Impact Undergraduate Chapter

CSU, Chico has been selected as one of 10 pilot sites for the first set of undergraduate chapters of Net Impact. The international organization supports new leaders who use business to improve the world.

Taylor Bass and Jack RawlinsFirst Jack Rawlins Environmental Award

Taylor Bass, a junior business major, received the first $10,000 Jack Rawlins Environmental Award, established at the University to foster a lifelong commitment to environmental activism.

Localization Certification Programs

CSU, Chico was one of two campuses worldwide to host localization certification programs, including Project Management Certification. In June 2006, experts from Oracle, Adobe, Hewlett-Packard, Cisco, and Lionbridge addressed preparation of products for the global market.

Campus Named ‘Mega Center’

SAP America named CSU, Chico one of two campuses in the country to host the latest SAP software programs and provide technical and curriculum support for universities worldwide. In 1998, the University won the first SAP University Alliance Research Award, and in 2000 was named the first SAP University Competency Center.

Marketing Students Take Top Honors

The CSU, Chico chapter of the American Marketing Association won a Distinguished Chapter of the Year award at the International Case Competition in March 2007. They also took first place in the Most Educational Value category, first place in the Student Choice Award category, and honorable mention for their Web site design.
