Aki Matsumoto received an Outstanding Delegate Award and Fumiko Motohashi received the Distinguished Delegation Award at the American West Model United Nations Conference in November 2006.
International Training Projects
The School of Graduate, International, and Interdisciplinary Studies provides professional training opportunities for international educators. During 2006–2007, 120 educators from Egypt visited Chico on study tours as part of Egypt’s education reform program. Workshop leaders and presenters included professors from CSU, Chico, secondary school principals, teachers, and district superintendents. The visitors from Egypt, in turn, shared information about their culture with students and community members.
Chico Students Become Peace Corps Volunteers
CSU, Chico is among the top medium-size colleges and universities in the country that have alumni serving as Peace Corps volunteers. Currently, there are 23 alumni serving in 18 countries. Since the inception of the Peace Corps in 1961, more than 550 CSU, Chico alumni have served as volunteers.
