TOP COLLEGE FUND-RAISER for St. Jude
The 2008 Up ’Til Dawn fund-raiser saw Chico State students raise more money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., than any other college in the nation. Over 2,000 volunteers sent out more than 37,000 letters, bringing in a total of $183,561. In six years, Chico students have collected more than $677,000 for the hospital.
Leading by Example
Student Malcolm J. McLemore received the Enhancement of Multicultural Understanding Award for his contributions to the development of a positive multicultural environment at CSU, Chico. As president of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, he led the Kappas in creating the Set It Off! talent competition and Black History Month program. He brought together the Men of Honor and Greek councils to raise $4,000 for a Martin Luther King Jr. monument at the Chico Community Park.
