’Cats Claim Commissioner’s Cup

The Chico State Athletics Department was the best in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) in 2010–11. Chico State won CCAA titles in men’s and women’s cross country and men’s and women’s track and field and finished second in men’s soccer and men’s golf.

Soccer Alum Wondolowski on U.S. Men’s Team

Former Chico State soccer player Chris Wondolowski was named to the U.S. Men’s National Team for the CONCACAF Gold Cup and earned his first start in a 1-0 win against Guadeloupe in June 2011.

Bauhs Makes Chico State Track & Field History

An NCAA champion in track and field and cross country while at Chico State, distance runner Scott Bauhs became the University’s first alumnus to earn a berth in the World Championships with his third-place finish at the 2011 USATF Championships in June 2011.

Chavez Shines in Freshman Year

Freshman distance runner Isaac Chavez, often compared to Bauhs, put together the best freshman year in Chico State history by placing fifth at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in November and then third at the NCAA Track & Field Championships in the 10,000 meters in May.

Souza wins NCAA Golf Title

Kyle Souza won the NCAA individual title in men’s golf in Florence, Alabama, in May 2011 by winning a playoff on the third hole. He rallied from four strokes back and forced a playoff.
