Continued Recognition as One of America's Best Colleges
For the third straight year, CSU, Chico was ranked sixth among master’s level public universities in the western United States in the 2012 America’s Best Colleges from U.S. News & World Report magazine.
CSU, Chico on List of Top Five ‘Green’ Colleges in America
Yahoo!News named CSU, Chico as on of the top five eco-conscious campuses in America in September 2011. The article notes that CSU, Chico is dedicated to increasing sustainability efforts on campus and boasts multiple LEED-certified structures and rooftop solar arrays. Student commitment to “green” initiatives is evidenced by multiple earth-friendly service projects on campus and in the community. Other colleges listed include Evergreen State College, Middlebury College, Green Mountain College, and Oberlin College.
Outside Magazine: “Chico Perfect Town”
Chico made Outside magazine’s October 2011 cover as one of 19 ‘perfect towns.’ The magazine listed its proximity to Mount Shasta and Lassen Volcanic National Park; CSU, Chico and the “collegiate vibe”; and Bidwell Park, one of the largest green municipal spaces in the country, as appealing features.
CSU, Chico Student Selected as One of Two Student Trustees for the CSU System
Jillian Ruddell has been selected as one of two student trustees on the California State University’s Board of Trustees. Ruddell, the youngest director ever of the Associated Students Women’s Center, also received the prestigious William R. Hearst/CSU Trustees’ Award for Outstanding Achievement.

Chico, founded in 1887, is a residential campus located in
Northern California. With Little Chico Creek winding through
the center of campus, CSU, Chico is known for its beauty.
One measure of the quality of a university is the opinion
recent graduates have of their alma mater. In the most recent
Spring Graduate Survey, 97 percent of baccalaureate graduates reported
they were satisfied with the value of their education at CSU,
Chico, and 98 percent indicated they were satisfied with CSU, Chico
as a whole.
