Women’s Basketball Team on the Ball

The Chico State women’s basketball team swept all the major conference awards: Kim Abts was named Most Valuable Player of the Year, Amber Simmons was named Freshman of the Year, and Lynne DeYoung was named Coach of the Year. Additionally, Lauren Himmelspach joined Abts and Simmons as first team all-CCAA selections, while Haley Ford and Maija Panttaja earned second team all-CCAA honors. In other words, the entire starting lineup earned all-conference honors.

An A Capella Tour

CSU, Chico’s A Cappella Choir will tour Washington D.C., Baltimore, and New York City in May. The choir will perform concerts in the Capitol, Fort McHenry, Old St. Paul’s Church, Baltimore (1692), and the National Cathedral. They will participate in concerts with other college ensembles, visit professional choirs, and collaborate with renowned composers, including Robert Convery and Philip Hagemann.

Ultimate Team No. 1 Nationally

The CSU, Chico Men’s Ultimate team took first place at the College Southern Invitational Tournament during spring break in Statesboro, Georgia. This prestigious tournament featured 36 of the best college teams in the country and is the first non-West Coast tournament win for the Wildcats in Ultimate history.

Phi Kappa Phi to Honor Graduates

The Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, whose members represent the top 10 percent of their class, will present their annual Initiation and Medallion Ceremony on May 12, 3:30–5:00 pm, in the Bell Memorial Union. The ceremony welcomes new members and honors Phi Kappa Phi members who are about to graduate with BAs and MAs. Everyone is invited to honor these students.
