Chico Verde: Sustainability Conference

The spring semester is underway and there are a host of sustainability events scheduled. Mark your calendars for Toward Sustainability: Western Regional Conference and Expo that will be here at CSU, Chico on March 7-9. The conference is proceeded by a day of field trips on Monday, and followed on Friday by a workshop on integrating sustainability into our classrooms and curriculum.

Plenary speakers include Debra Rowe (co-chair U.S. Partnership for the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development, and Dan Burgoyne (US Green Building Council). Rowe will cover the national trend toward sustainability in higher education as well as the U.S. Partnership, and Burgoyne will discuss sustainability in new construction and the new LEED rating system. The conference will have presentations and posters on four interrelated topics: sustainability in the curriculum, sustainability in the built environment, sustainability in student life, and sustainable energy and economies. There will also be a product exposition, an art show, and a CAPE Forum on Wednesday evening covering Ethics and Business.
