The Outstanding Awards 20052006
The Faculty Recognition and Support Committee has named the Outstanding Award recipients for 20052006. In this issue, Thomas Fahey, Outstanding Professor, and Bob Thomas, Outstanding Teacher, are presented. Kathleen Kaiser, Outstanding Service Award, and Larry Hanne, Outstanding Advisor will be presented in the March 9 issue.

Service-Learning In Oaxaca, Mexico
I took eight adventurous nursing students to Mexico to participate in a healthcare service-learning project for 10 days during intersession. All the students had completed at least one year of the nursing program and were excited about providing much needed healthcare in Mexico.

Poet Al Young Highlights Black History Month
Al Young, poet, screenwriter, performer, and teacher, who was appointed to the position of California Poet Laureate in May 2005, will perform at 7:30 pm, in the BMU on February 5. The following history was taken from the California Poet Laureate Web site.
