Writer's Voice SeriesRedemption Center: Vincent Craig Wright’s short fiction
Beth Spencer, editor, said that Redemption Center delivers a funny, troubling,
and sometimes hallucinatory look at modern American life, love, faith
(or lack of it), and work (ditto). Born in Louisiana, Wright also lived
in Texas, Pennsylvania, and the Carolinas before taking a job teaching
creative writing at SOU. While at the University of South Carolina, he
studied with James Dickey and William Price Fox and won both a South
Carolina Academy of Authors Fiction Prize and an Elliott Teaching Award.
He is also a singer/songwriter and musician. “His music background
has no doubt affected the way he attends to rhythms of speech and narrative,” said
Spencer. —Kathleen McPartland |
